Parkland Strong: A Benefit Concert
On May 16, 2018 South Florida showed up to honor Parkland and raise money for the victim families and survivors of the February 14th school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas. With a headlining performance by Native Floridians and Douglas alum, New Found Glory performed to a sold out audience, of about 3,000 local fans. The benefit also included performances by William Ryan Key of Yellowcard, and Boca Raton native Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessionals. With a special speed painting done by artist Michael Israel, that was then auctioned off for $3,000.00. The money will go to the Broward County School Board official victim fund, along with every single dollar spent at this event. From concessions, to merchandize, to ticket sales. The painting was donated back to the school and will hang on the walls of Marjory Stoneman Douglas.
