3 Heart Strings: How Students are Healing Their Community one MSD Bracelet at a Time.
I don’t know about you but I could really use a good story today. A little bit of light in this grim place. Luckily for us all I stumbled upon just that. Meet 3 Heart Strings. A nonprofit organization started by 3 best friends, one day while at summer camp.
Sofia Rothenburg 14, Stacey Gringauz 16, and Hanna Guttentag 17, created their very own way to give back and also spend some quality time together. Once a month they unanimously pick a charity and create personalized bracelets in support of them. Raising money for organizations like CCFA, Mazon, Phoenix Center for Autistic Children, Not My Daughter, and Focus For our Future. As you can see this is something they’ve been passionate about long before their community completely shifted upside down last week. Never did they ever imagine having to do this for their very own neighborhood, their very own schools, and their very own friends, but it pretty quickly occurred to them that it needed to be done. They took all of their emotion and all of their pain, and immediately threw it into this project. They were surprised at how quickly getting to work had started to heal them.
Just like most of us, who’ve been feeling helpless since the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas, they too needed to create their own way of being some kind of help. Since the very first MSD bracelet was made, the girls have raised over $60,000, all of which is being donated to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas official fundraiser. Bracelets can be purchased along with bumper stickers online for $5 a piece.
These girls are absolutely remarkable. And spending time with them brought me so much peace. I am not worried about our future. As long as it is in the hands and on the wrists of these 3 kids.
Go support them supporting Marjory Stoneman Douglas.
